The hiring process typically takes approximately four to eight weeks from the time we receive your completed application. We do not have fixed testing dates—instead, we schedule assessments on an as-needed basis to keep the process moving efficiently.

3. Physical Agility Test & Written Exam – Applicants for sworn positions must complete a job-related physical assessment and written test.
4. Polygraph Examination – Used to verify information and ensure honesty throughout the application process.
5. Comprehensive Background Investigation – A full investigation into your employment, criminal, financial, and personal history.
6. Oral Review Board – An interview with a panel of Fort Mill Police Department personnel.
7. Final Review by the Chief of Police – The Chief makes the final decision regarding selection for a conditional offer.
8. Conditional Job Offer – Candidates who successfully complete all prior steps will receive a conditional job offer.
9. Psychological Evaluation, Medical Exam & Drug Screen – Final assessments to ensure fitness for duty.
